In the latest episode of the Empowerography Podcast, my guest is Chelsea Brown. Chelsea Brown is founder & CEO of Millie Inc., a community that empowers global perspective, compassion and kindness, connecting women around the world. Originally focused on womenled, sustainable travel and in-person conferences, Millie expanded to include The Millie Podcast, The Storytellers essays and online speaking events. A percentage of Millie revenue is donated to organizations that empower women and girls. To date, Millie has contributed over C$21,000 to social enterprises and NGOs globally. Chelsea is also VP Development & Operations at Clarity Management Group, a boutique consulting firm specializing in high net worth risk management in the banking sector. A Toronto native, she lived in the U.K., USA and Canada as a child. This instilled within her a desire to not only explore the world, but to make a difference in it. From her time as a mentor at Girls E-Mentorship Innovation (GEM), to the organizations and innovators she supports: Chelsea's passion has always been championing women to unlock their potential. She currently sits on the International Advisory Board for Sitti Social Enterprises, which works to empower the economic growth and self-reliance of the Palestinian community.

In the latest episode of the Empowerography Podcast, my guest is Dara Kurtz. If you looked at me you would think my life has been easy. A quick glance wouldn’t tell you I’ve been through hard challenges and struggles, just as most of us have. It took me a long time to admit these struggles and have the courage to be vulnerable and open up about my past. I got used to putting a smile on my face and pretending everything was fine. I share my story with the hope of helping other people realize we all face challenges and hard moments in life and that we aren’t alone. We can lean on one another and share, be willing to open up, learn from each other, and come out stronger. Life can be challenging for all of us, and talking about it and sharing is a way for us to feel more connected. Two weeks after I had my first daughter my Mom passed away from cancer. It was devastating and I spent a long time pretending everything was OK. For years, I tried to distract myself from being honest about the pain and sadness that followed me around like my shadow. Grief can be a tricky thing and I didn’t know how to help myself. It’s been twenty years since my Mom passed away, and I’ve finally made peace with her death and had the courage to talk about it. I know she would never have wanted her death to get in the way of me living my life, but it took me a long time to realize this. In this episode we discuss being an author, being a cancer survivor, loss, grief, fear, choices, stepping out of comfort zones, gratitude and crazy perfect life.

Victoria was born and raised in Modesto and attended CSU, Stanislaus with an undergrad degree in communications and journalism, and attended grad school for psychology. Victoria has been teaching Pilates and fitness for 22 years and you can say teaching has always been part of her path; from teaching CPR, lifeguarding, swim lessons and therapy for children in group homes, she has always had a passion for helping others.
Victoria started Studio V Pilates & Fitness nearly 10 years ago, and has grown the business to a “mega studio” with nearly 7,000 square feet of fitness, and has since opened a second studio and sold it. With quarantine, Victoria has created a fully online studio with Studio V TV and continues to record, produce and create workouts for the virtual world.

Living and working in New York City, Reka Nyari’s practice spans from fashion and fine art photography and videography, to elaborate installation and performance pieces. Oscillating between mischievous eroticism and wistful splendor, her work employs and explores traditional ideals of beauty and gender to portray sexuality from a predominantly female perspective. Nyari’s images of nude figures are not strictly intended as alluring portraits – while deriving their emotional charge from the familiar motifs of erotic photography, they expand the pictorial vocabulary to the realm of narratives, layering in personal histories and fictitious content. Unapologetically, Nyari embeds luscious and empowered bodies in luminous landscapes or against staged backdrops. Nudity, gesture, gaze, as well as objects become intrinsically linked to the feminine identity.
