These days Jessie has traded Canada’s brutal winters for the tropical climes of Mexico becoming a citizen on account of her Mother being born and raised in Mexico. Her Mother then married a Canadian and they moved to Canada where Jessie was born. “I love Mexico, it really feels like home to me,” she says. “Everything in my life is surrounded by music, and the musicianship here is incredible. I feel honoured to be playing with such talented and remarkable musicians. Kind of hard not to enjoy playing on the beach or in an open-air bar! I couldn’t ask for more,” she smiles. Building luxury condos on the Banderas Bay, selling real estate, and continuing on with her passion of writing and playing music, Jessie has now made Mexico home. Her latest single, ”Please Don’t Let Me Down” shows you the more vulnerable side to Jessie where she shares some of her life story through sound and the incredible video that followed it, displaying the authenticity and intimacy she shares with the viewers. Her last release, “I Don’t Care” showcases her vocal range and exhibits the more daring side to Jessie. Jessie has been sent to share a message of love, hope, and peace to the world through the pure essence of her being and her gift of song. She reminds us all through her music, that love can truly heal, and teaches us how the strength of the human spirit can rise above any adversity for those of us who head down the road less travelled.. Erin Jones Episode S01 EPS 334

In the latest episode of the Empowerography Podcast, my guest is Erin Jones. Erin Jones has been involved in and around schools for 30 years. She has taught in a variety of environments, from predominantly Black to predominantly White to some of the most diverse communities in the nation. Erin received an award as the Most Innovative Foreign Language Teacher in 2007, while teaching in Tacoma and was the Washington State Milken Educator of the Year in 2008, while teaching in Spokane. She received recognition at the White House in March of 2013 as a "Champion of Change” and was Washington State PTA’s “Outstanding Educator” in 2015. After serving as a classroom teacher and instructional coach, Erin worked as an executive for two State Superintendents. Erin left the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction in 2012 to work in college-access at the school district level. She left her job to run as a candidate for State Superintendent and was the first Black woman to run for any state office in Washington state, a race she lost by a mere 1%. Erin has 3 adult children - a daughter who graduated from Central Washington University and works for the Equity in Education Coalition, a son who recently graduated from Harvey Mudd College and is in his second year of graduate school at USC and one who attends college and coaches high school football with her husband of 27 years. In this episode we discuss racism, education leadership, the state of politics today, being uniquely you, the importance of impact and failure.

This very personal film, which Benita narrates herself, documents how her fairytale romance with a world-renowned surgeon turns into a nightmare. When Benita discovers that her fiance is not who he claims to be, she goes on an emotional journey to unravel a trail of destruction that leaves patients dead and their shattered families in shock. In 2019, the film was nominated in the documentary category for the WIN Awards, Women's Image Network. Benita’s story of remarkable resilience and bravery in exposing the lying surgeon she thought she would spend the rest of her life with has since been featured in numerous national and international television, radio shows and podcasts.
