In the latest episode of the Empowerography Podcast, my guest is Vanessa Ferro. Vanessa is the principal designer and owner at Vanessa Ferro Design. I started the business approx 5 years ago. I always did design work unofficially for friends, family and myself.  But most of my working life was actually in the financial industry working down on Bay St, on an investment team. This really wasn’t really my passion however. When my 2nd son was born he was very ill.  We spent most of his first 2 years back and forth to Sick Kids Hospital. Once he was better (he is 100% now) my husband and I decided it was time for some big changes.  We decided to leave the city (and house we just reno’d) and go build our dream house up north in king township. One thing lead to another and over a few years my design business just organically grew. In a way I feel that out of the stress and hardship of my son’s illness came this wonderful new opportunity….a new life in the country, an “almost” dream home (that’s another story :) and my design business. My trainer at the gym always reminds me that “challenge means change”.  She is talking about my approach to exercise and diet, however I think you can apply it in many areas of your life. In this episode we discuss personal struggle, changing course, learning, passion, interior design, gratitude and second chances.
